On The Job Brush Cleaning System Every Face Painter Needs to Know

Hygiene in face painting is SO important

Kids are excited, energetic, and naturally don’t understand personal space yet — which means colds, flus, and germs can spread very easily at events.

That’s why professional hygiene practices on the job are essential.

One of the best systems I use while face painting is the “3 Pot System”:

🫧 Pot 1: A basic rinse pot with a small amount of natural brush soap to break up and wash off paint from the brush.

💧 Pot 2: A clean water pot to rinse away any remaining soap.

🎨 Pot 3: A clean water pot used only for reloading the brush back into fresh paint.

This helps keep paints cleaner during busy events and reduces cross contamination while working quickly on the job.

I also regularly:
✨ Change water throughout the event
✨ Use clean sponges and brushes
✨ Sanitise hands
✨ Keep my kit and workspace clean

Parents trust us with their children, and hygiene should always be part of being a professional face painter
