Today I’m going to show you exactly how I create puppy dog face paint designs at my face painting gigs, a super fun and reliable design that kids absolutely love.
This is one of my go-to easy face paint ideas because it’s quick, adaptable, and perfect for beginners learning a face painting course online or building confidence at events.
When you’re face painting at parties or events, you need designs that are:
This puppy dog face paint ticks all the boxes. It’s also highly customisable—you can adjust colours and expressions to suit each child.
To create this puppy dog face paint, I use a simple but effective setup:
👉 Using the right brushes makes a huge difference in speed and finish, especially if you’re working professionally.
Using your half circle sponges, create the soft shape of the puppy’s face. This forms the foundation and helps speed up your workflow.
Layer your colours to create depth—this is what makes your puppy design stand out rather than looking flat.
With a round brush (size 3 or 4), add the eyes, nose, and outline. Keep your lines clean but not too harsh for a softer, cuter look.
Use your petal brush to paint the puppy dog’s dangling tongue. This brush is perfect because it covers larger areas smoothly while keeping a nice shape.
Finish with highlights, small fur strokes, and any extra details to bring your puppy to life.
